Marc Oettinger is Assistant Director of Innovation Transfer at University of California (UC), Santa Cruz. Marc is the primary intellectual property director for physical sciences and engineering and software, including cleantech, devices, diagnostics, hardware, materials, and research tools. Marc is responsible for all aspects of the intellectual property and licensing practice at UC Santa Cruz, including disclosure solicitation and intake, patent/software protection and management, and licensing-related transactions. Prior to UC Santa Cruz, Marc worked for University of Virginia (UVA) Licensing & Ventures Group where he served as senior licensing staff and a liaison to School of Engineering and Applied Science. Prior to UVA, Marc served as senior licensing staff in UC Berkeley’s Office of Intellectual Property & Industry Research Alliances. Marc’s work experience includes federal and industry spaces, as well as roles in three startups.
