Judy Yee is Vice President, Head of Avanci Video and the North America Market Unit at Avanci, a leading independent global provider of patent licensing platforms. In these roles, she strengthens Avanci’s relationships with licensees and licensors across all Avanci businesses and oversees all aspects of Avanci Video, a comprehensive licensing platform covering the latest video technologies—including AV1, H.265 (HEVC), H.266 (VVC), MPEG-DASH, and VP9—and serving a growing list of licensors and internet streaming companies.
Before joining Avanci, Judy spent 13 years at Microsoft, most recently as Assistant General Counsel, IP. In that role, she led several teams of patent professionals and developed and executed SEP-related strategies to address legal risks impacting both internal and external stakeholders.
Prior to Microsoft, Judy practiced law at Perkins Coie LLP and worked as an engineer at Intel.
Admitted to the Washington State Bar and licensed to practice before the USPTO, Judy has extensive experience in the business of intellectual property, including patent portfolio development, licensing, M&A transactions, and more. A regular conference speaker, Judy is recognized in the IAM Strategy 300 list of leading IP professionals and is a co-founder and board member of ADAPT.legal, a nonprofit dedicated to increasing diversity in the IP profession.
