Ian DiBernardo is a partner and chair of the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group. He is also co-practice group leader of the U.S. Technology group. His dual leadership roles reflect his decades of experience counselling clients throughout the entire lifecycle of IP, from creating worldwide patent portfolios, to bringing products to market, to licensing IP and technology, to litigating bet-the-company cases.
Ian has decades of experience structuring, preparing, and negotiating intellectual property and technology transactions, and he has served as lead litigation counsel for plaintiffs and defendants in many patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation, and breach of contract cases in state and federal courts, as well as serving as lead counsel in reexaminations and post grant proceedings before the PTAB.
Ian’s transactional work also includes representing investors in sourcing, evaluating, and executing on various IP-centric investments, including royalty transactions, IP-backed loans, portfolio sales and acquisitions and litigation finance. He has represented clients in billions dollars worth of patent-based transactions.
Ian has served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Licensing Executives Society (USA & Canada).
