John Han is Senior Vice President and General Manager of Qualcomm Technology Licensing (QTL), the world’s leading licensor of cellular technology. QTL enables hundreds of companies to deliver innovative products by licensing Qualcomm’s leading foundational innovations in areas such as 4G, 5G, video compression, and Wi-Fi.
John is responsible for QTL’s overall business, overseeing strategy, account management, negotiations, operations, compliance, finance, communications, and patent analysis. Under John’s leadership, QTL signed over 100 agreements with handset OEMs within 16 months of 5G’s launch, most of which have now been renewed, and today over 90% of handset OEMs are licensed to Qualcomm’s 3G/4G/5G patents. Additionally, QTL has over 50 5G automotive agreements covering the majority of that industry and QTL has been licensing successfully in IoT for over 20 years.
Prior to Qualcomm, John drove patent licensing, portfolio management and patent analysis in several leadership roles at Ericsson and served as General Patent Counsel for Samsung Telecommunications America. He has degrees in computer science from the University of Michigan and Texas A&M, and a JD from the University of Texas School of Law.
